Anomaly guide

Missing / detached module

A missing / detached module is a panel absent from its place on a table, or torn loose from it. The SolarDetech platform classifies this anomaly automatically in RGB imagery.

Missing-Module

Definition

This class covers two situations: a panel missing from the table altogether, and a panel that has slipped from its clamps and shifted or is left hanging. Because the panel-level record defines which positions on each table should carry a panel, the empty position is flagged clearly. A hanging panel is treated as a separate safety risk.

Signs in the imagery

In the RGB image it shows as a gap in the table's regular panel layout with the mounting structure visible, or as a displaced panel at a different angle from its neighbours. In the thermal image the empty position shows ground or structure temperature. Classification relies on the visible-light image.

Possible causes

  • Storms and wind lifting the panel
  • Loose or missing mounting clamps
  • Theft
  • A panel removed for repair and not put back

Effect on production and safety

The missing panel's output is lost. If it has been taken out of the string, the string voltage changes. Exposed connectors and cables carry electrical and moisture risks. A hanging panel can fall and damage neighbouring panels, and it endangers the field team.

Recommended action

If a panel is hanging, secure the area and remove or re-fix the panel as a priority. Insulate the exposed cables at the empty position and check the state of the string. Check the clamp tightness across the same table and refit the panel.
